Barnsley and Rotherham Young Archaeologists’ Club

Barnsley and Rotherham Young Archaeologists’ Club

The Young Archaeologists’ Club (YAC) is part of a national network across the UK which provides access for young people to learn about archaeology and heritage in an informal youth group setting. It runs once a month on a Saturday morning 10-12pm for children and young people between the age of 8 and 16 years. It is split across Barnsley and Rotherham alternating between venues and costs 50p per child per session. It is entirely run by volunteers and we look for adult leader or young leaders (over 16 years) to help run and sustain the club. Training for this is provided.

The club has lots of diverse activities to take part in including crafty archaeological themed creations, trips out to historical places and opportunities to take part in fieldwork including excavation. If you want to know more get in touch through greatplace@barnsley.gov.uk.
