WE Great Place Poetry
WE Great Place are working with poet Dan Ryder to creatively capture the essence of events and projects, a truly unique way to evaluate and capture the story of our great place. Dan is a poet and editor from South Yorkshire. A graduate of the Manchester Writing School, his poems are found in various Australian and British literary journals.
In 2015, he lived in Melbourne, Australia for a year where he sat on the Voiceworks editorial committee as poetry editor. Voiceworks is a national quarterly literary magazine that publishes and pays for new writing and art by Australians under the age of 25.
Since moving back to South Yorkshire Dan has been Social Media Manager for local arts and culture magazine ‘Doncopolitan’ and has curated his debut exhibition ‘These poets, our kin | These poems, our stories’ at the Frenchgate Centre.
Dan is Vice-Chair at The Ted Hughes Project (South Yorkshire) which runs the annual Ted Hughes Poetry Festival. Dan was recently awarded a Writers by Nature: Scholarship from the British Council.
Dan has supported many of our We Great Place events and this piece captures the true spirit of Great Place.
